Discount Policy

The college commits to ensure that all people have access to our courses regardless of their financial status. On that basis, discounts and fee waivers are made available during enrolment. Please inquire about discounts prior to enrolment.

General Explanation

From time-to-time Sydney Community College may offer discounts to the prices advertised in the College course guide and on the College website. These may be:

Discounts

Pre-release:

As part of the normal promotion of courses, the college may choose to offer discounts to existing and past students before the wider community has had the opportunity to enrol. This may be done by written offers distributed through the College customer e-mail list or through Australia Post. Offers may also be made verbally through the College Customer Service Centre.

Distress:

Towards the end of any enrolment period it may be necessary to discount courses in order to encourage a cost effective enrolment. This may be done by written offers distributed through the College customer e-mail list or through Australia Post. Offers may also be made verbally through the College Customer Service Centre. Distress discounts cannot be applied retrospectively.

Concessional Discounts:

Concessional Discounts are available to students who are in receipt of an eligible benefit and who produce a current benefit card eg. Pensioners Concession Card, Health Care Card, AusStudy Card, Seniors Health Care Card, Low Income Card, at the time of enrolment. Concessional Discounts are not available over the telephone or via the internet. To qualify for a Concessional Discount, a student must be registered for and currently receiving one of the following benefits:

  • AusStudy
  • Aged Pension
  • Disability Support Pension
  • Parenting Payment Single
  • Carer Payment
  • Newstart Allowance
  • Sickness Allowance
  • Family Tax Benefit
  • Seniors Card

Concessional Discounts are available to eligible students for most but not all courses. Those courses which are conducted in partnership with other organisations may not be eligible for concessions. For further details call the College Office 8752 7555 or e-mail Customer Service.

The following Concessional Discounts may be applied:

  • 10% discount up to $10 maximum at any time for all courses unless otherwise specified.
  • 25% concession off any day time course (Mon-Fri) at any time. Some conditions may apply.
  • 50% concession is available 3 days before course commencement date for most but not all courses provided minimum numbers have been reached.

Caution: Concession can only be given if there are places available at the time of application and many classes fill quickly. If possible, early enrolment is always recommended to avoid disappointment.

Over 55 Last Minute Discount:

The College offers a generous discount of 50% to those over 55 on a ‘Last Minute’ basis.

Note: This applies to most but NOT all courses and is applied to the tuition component of the course only. The following conditions apply:

  • Consumables included as part of the course are not discounted.
  • You must be willing to present identification with your birth date on the first night of your course.
  • This discount is available not earlier than three working days prior to the course commencing.
  • The discount may not be applied retrospectively.

Discretionary Discounts and Fee Exemptions:

The College mission is to provide accessible education. With this in mind, anyone may apply for a fee reduction or exemption outside of the above policy based on genuine hardship. Applications are considered in confidence. Please contact Customer Service 8752 7555 and ask to speak with the Customer Service Manager.

Limitations of Discounts:

  • These offers are not redeemable for cash.
  • Discounts and concessions cannot under any circumstances be applied retrospectively.
  • Discounts and concessions cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
