Awards
College Awards
The College has received two awards in recognition of the high standard of commitment and expertise demonstrated at the College.
The first in 1996 was for innovation and commitment to learning and the project assisted students with psychiatric and/or intellectual disabilities to attend mainstream courses at the college.
Our second award was Leading Provider 1998, sponsored by the NRMA and presented by the Minister for Education and Training.
We were again nominated for this award in 1999.
In September 2004, the college was recognised for its participation and partnership with TAFE Sydney Institute, the Sydney Grammar School and the St Vincent De Paul Society, for our part in a project working with homeless men.
Adult Learners Week Awards
During Adult Learners Week, which is held in September each year, the college offers a number of awards. The two main awards recognise teaching and learning. In 2007, these college awards will be awarded in November and other celebrations will be organised in September.
The Alan Duncan Award
Alan Duncan is a member of the College Council and is the Foundation Chairman of the Council. Alan has spent his entire life in education. Now retired, he is most recognised for his work with Indigenous Australians. The Alan Duncan Award is presented to the most outstanding student of the year. Students may be nominated for the Alan Duncan Award at any time. The award is judged in August and presented at the Adult Learners Week celebrations in September.
The Stephen Lardner Memorial Award
Stephen Lardner was a highly innovative and creative adult educator at the College. Tragically, Stephen was killed in a car accident. In his memory, the College struck an award for Excellence in Teaching. It too is awarded during Adult Learners Week.
Awards Evening
Usually, during Adult Learners Week in September, the College recognises students in Visual Arts, Film, Craft, Writing and Performance. This year however, the college will hold its awards evening in November. For More information see Awards Evening or contact the College Office on 8752 7555
