Do you love Tapas and Paella? That’s just the start of our gastronomic journey through Spain! Learn to cook a traditional 3 course Spanish meal before sitting down to eat it together – just like in Spain. We’ll also talk about the importance of cuisine in the Spanish culture, listen to Spanish music and take a photographic ‘tour’ through Spain in this fun one-day class.

If you want to learn about Spanish food and culture in Sydney, then this course is for you.

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

Introduction:

• Introduction to Spanish cooking
• Tortilla de Patatas
• Ensalada Mixta
• Huevos Rotos

Arroz (Rice Dishes):

• Paella Valenciana
• Paella de Mariscos
• Arroz Caldoso
• Arroz Negro con Sepia

Tapas:

• Huevos a la Flamenca
• Porra Antequerrana
• Patatas Bravas
• Albóndigas
• Patatas a lo Pobre
• Almejas a la Marinera

Postres (Desserts:

• Crema Catalana
• Tarta de Quesco
• Gateux Basco

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course, students will have:

• Created traditional Spanish food for friends and family
• Learned about Spanish ingredients and how to use them to make delicious meals
• Learned about the different ‘foodie’ regions of Spain
• Learned about the role of food in Spanish culture

Other Information

Please bring pen and paper. If you have a Spanish-English dictionary it would be useful, but is not essential.

Please bring a plastic container to take the leftovers in.

Limited parking is available in the school car park, which is accessible from Derbyshire Rd (west of Balmain Rd). Drivers can also park in Annesley St or Hill St (east of Balmain Rd).
