Guitar Beginners

If you want to learn guitar in Sydney, then this course of 7 or 8 classes is for you.

Learn the basic chords and rhythms and some easy popular songs and riffs. You must provide your own guitar and music manuscript book.

No previous knowledge of the guitar is necessary for this class. Come and learn the basic chords and rhythms and some easy popular songs and riffs while having fun. You must provide your own guitar and a music manuscript book. Strictly limited places.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • Learning basic music theory – chords, rhythm, improvising and scales.
  • Examining simple, basic playing technique – learning to read tablature.
  • Playing popular songs – eg. Wild Thing, House of the Rising Sun, Come as you Are, About a Girl, Hey Joe and some easy Blues riffs.

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course the student will have:

  • Learned simple techniques for playing the guitar.
  • Performed repertoire of simple enjoyable pieces.
  • Developed and improved skills of those who already play.

Please provide your own guitar & a blank sheet music pad.
