If you want to learn Dressmaking in Sydney, then this course is for you.

Learn how to make your own garments for adults or kids using commercial patterns. Work with silks, satins, brocades or other difficult fabrics. Students must have the basic theory and practical skills as listed in Sew Simple 1 course in this section to participate.

Students must have basic theory and practical skills (see Sew Simple Part 1).

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

• Make simple pattern alterations to fit the individual
• Use a sewing machine and learn the required techniques
• Practice fitting techniques

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course the student will have:

• Learned about and interpreted commercial pattern
• Studied construction technique and constructed a garment
• Learned to fit and alter a commercial pattern to suit requirements

Other Information

Please bring:

• Self selected pattern/s
• Fabric, interfacing, calico (for test fit)
• Sewing equipment

Students MUST have the basic theory and practical skills as listed in the ‘Sew Simple’ course in this section to participate.
