If you want to learn Sewing in Sydney then this course of 4 classes is for you.

Learn how to make your own garments for adults or kids using commercial patterns. Work with silks, satins, brocades or other difficult fabrics. Students must have the basic theory and practical skills as listed in Sew Simple 1 course in this section to participate.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

• Making simple pattern alterations to fit the individual.
• Using a sewing machine and learning the required techniques.
• Practicing fitting techniques.

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course the student will have:

• Learned about and interpreted commercial pattern.
• Studied construction technique and constructed a garment.
• Learned to fit and alter a commercial pattern to suit requirements.

Other Information

Please bring to the first Class:

• Self selected pattern (s)
• Fabric, interfacing, calico (for test fit)
• Sewing equipment

Design & Technology Ctr, cnr Gordon St & Victoria Rd, Rozelle. If driving, no left turn into Gordon St, so turn left into Lilyfield Rd, then first right into Gordon St. (click on venue below for directions)

Students MUST have the basic theory and practical skills as listed in the ‘Sew Simple’ course in this section to participate.
