Dreamweaver 8 Essentials (PC)
If you want to learn Dreamweaver in Sydney, then this course is for you.
Dreamweaver allows you to design an interactive web site suited to your particular needs. Learn how to plan and design your web site, build your web document, incorporate graphics/images into web pages, link web pages, upload your site to the Internet and more.
Assumed knowledge: Computing Essentials or equivalent.
Agenda
During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.
Day One:
- Basic History of the World Wide Web and standards-based webpage construction
- Tour of the Dreamweaver Interface
- The characteristics of a Webpage (Tags, Linked Media, Distributed Resources)
- Planning the structure of a website (Grouping & categorising information, managing files)
- Creating Basic Pages using a standards-based page structure.
- Incorporating Images
- Linking Pages
Day Two:
- Formatting content with Dreamweaver using standards-based Cascading Style Sheets
- Page Layout with Dreamweaver using standards-based Cascading Style Sheets
Day Three:
- Free Work Time and Revision. Build and experiment on your own site with a web designer there to consult about “real world“ problems
- Uploading Site to a webserver (see note below under ‘Other Information’).
Objectives
The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.
By the end of the course the student will:
- Be able to use Dreamweaver at the introductory level
- Have learned the basics of site Navigation, Menus and Linking web pages
- Have developed a small web site from concept to completion: planning, structure and creation
Note: This course does not cover graphic design or page layout skills.

If you wish to publish your work on the internet you will need to have your own FTP server account already configured. Alternatively a free temporary account can be supplied for a period of twelve weeks from the course start date. This service is offered to Sydney Community College students by Creative Answers.
