If you want to learn how to Speak Up in Sydney, then this course is for you.

If you’re already presenting at work, or simply want insight into to adding some pizzazz to your presentations, this course is a ‘must do’. We focus on how to weave stories into your presentations. You will improve quickly whilst you put simple, novel techniques into practice. Through guided and coached exercises, you’ll learn to really work with an audience. Exercises are fun. Learn stagecraft, give short talks, even introduce speakers. If you want to explore ways to impress your audience, this course is a ‘must-have’ investment in you.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

• Develop techniques for impromptu speeches
• Identify helpful attitudes and approaches in public communication
• Evaluate performance
• Apply speech construction
• Develop listening skills, understand body language
• Present and evaluate prepared speeches

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course the student will have:

• Delivered speeches in front of an audience without notes
• Learned techniques for impromptu speaking
• Learned techniques to allay fear of public speaking
• Acquired evaluation skills which assist performance

Cleveland St English High, corner Cleveland and Chalmers Sts, Surry Hills (5 min walk from Devonshire St exit of Central Station). Enter from Chalmers St.
