Just Small Talk

If you want to learn about Small Talk in Sydney, then this course of 7 classes is for you.

Dennis will demystify the art of ‘Small Talk’ while increasing your confidence in saying the right thing, at the right time to people you hardly know.

Ever wondered how some people manage to float and mingle, saying the right thing, at the right time to people they hardly know? Dennis will demystify the art of ‘Small Talk’ while increasing your confidence. Eight sessions allow for time to practise your newly learned skills.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • Establishing objectives and assessing group’s personal goals.
  • Identifying barriers to communication, self talk.
  • Compiling checklist of personal styles, values, body language.
  • Winning inner speech, affirmation, body language, relaxation.
  • Practising techniques of self disclosure as a means for continuing conversation: reflective listening.
  • Practising technique of echoing in conversation.
  • Trails- conversation with feedback/observation.
  • Reviewing course: measuring gains.

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course the student will have:

  • Examined current skills and reduced levels of anxiety.
  • Examined barriers to skill and practiced talking to people.
  • Developed techniques for conversation and provide safe environment for developing these skills.

No special requirements for the first night.
