You decide when and where to study, with guidance from our experienced, hands-on tutor and in a fun and interactive environment.

The course runs entirely online via the Internet. All study and assignment submission is completed online.

Your tutor will be available for email and online support as well as marking and returning your assignments online.

You can expect the same level of quality in this online course as you do from Sydney Community College’s face-to-face training.

The course suits anyone wishing to complete a marketing qualification without attending face-to-face training sessions due to work, family or any other commitments. It is designed to make maximum use of time and to allow participants to complete the course in less than 6 months.

Objectives

At the end of this course you will be able to commence the development of a marketing plan by analyzing consumer trends, understanding product marketing fundamentals and producing basic marketing materials.

Other Information

Recommended Study Technique:

Every week the tutor will participate with you and other students in an online forum that runs for 1 hour. The forum will allow you to ask questions, interact with the class and exchange views on the module you are studying. The tutor will coordinate this process and pose questions and items for discussion. Your questions can also be answered in this forum.

In between forums, you are required to study the material provided to you and commence working on assisgnments. Much of the study will depend on your own pace and circumstances, but we recommend at least 8 hours of study per week.

Outside of the forum sessions, you are able to contact your tutor at any time via email. The contact can be to ask questions, raise unit issues or coordinate a particular topic you are studying. The tutor will always endevour to get back to you in a timely fashion and never later than 24 hours after your initial email.

By and large, you are free to design your own study schedule and manage your workload.

Assignment Submission Dates:

The assignment submission dates are always 1 week after the end of the module. In practice this gives you around 2 to 3 weeks of assignment completion time as you can commence working on assignments at the outset of commencing the unit of study. Assignments are designd in such a way that they allow you to commence answering as soon as you have completed the first chapter of any unit, which is usually 2 or 3 days after commencing the unit.

Tutor Guidance on Study:

Your tutor can provide you with further guidance and suggest modifications to your study schedule if required. Your tutor is contactable via email.

Computer Requirements:

Internet access with at least a 56k modem
Have a computer with a Pentium 3 processor with 500MHz or more
Have a computer screen resolution of 1024×768 or better
Not have s firewall that blocks your access to the Sydney Community College web site or web tools or email

Course Duration:

The course runs over 24 weeks. The entire course is undertaken online.

Access to Tutor:

You will have access to the course tutor through email and online 7 days a week. The times of forums will be specified on commencement of the course.

Forums:

Forums are online meeting sessions where participants have an opportunity to interact with one another and with the tutor in real time. Participants are also free to exchange ideas and work in online groups outside of the forum hours if they choose to do so.

Questions regarding the Course Assignments:

Questions regarding the course assignments can be submitted to the tutor at any time via email. The tutor will endeavor to respond to these queries within 24 hours from submission.

Completion of the Course:

Once you have completed all the assignments for every module and been deemed as competent, you will graduate with a Certificate IV in Business (Marketing). This is a nationally recognized qualification.

Further Assessment Attempts:

You will have the ability to further attempt those assignments that you may have had assessed as Not Yet Competent.

Study Pack:

On successful enrolment, SCC will email you with appropriate user name and password access and any other materials required for you to undertake the program. Your assignments are all submitted online and marked and returned online.
