20 Great Ways to Promote your Business Online

If you want to learn how to promote your business online, then this course is for you.

For designers, therapists, trades, consultants, trainers, retailers and staff who have responsibility for the company’s online marketing. A practical demonstration of the many online tools you can use (most of them free) to promote your business and your personal profile. You don’t even need a website. Everything from photo albums, web calendars, web diaries (blogs), free web pages, discussion groups, online videos, email newsletters and e-books. Plus the cheapest way to do effective, targeted online advertising.

Workshop includes a workbook, web page of resources and 6 months of personal consultation (online or in person) with Ken Burgin to assist in the promotion of your business.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • Understanding Google search – how to reach page one of a search
  • Tools for improving web content so you are found more often
  • Understanding and using Google AdWords and preparing an ad for your business
  • Demonstration of business blogs and diaries and how to use blogs to promote your business, and use other blogs for business inspiration
  • How to start an effective email newsletter and avoid spam problems
  • Free online services that can add rich content to your web presence and effectiveness – photo albums, event calendars, videos, name tracking, maps, discussion groups and a wide variety of Web 2.0 services
  • How to keep track of your competitors online

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Prepare an action plan for online promotion, suitable for their type of business and customer
  • Create and write entries for an online diary (blog) to promote their business
  • Display photos online to promote their business and profile
  • Write an effective advertisement for Google AdWords
  • Plan and send an email newsletter
  • Track online comments about themselves, their business and their competitors
  • Find and choose more resources online that can be used to promote their business
