Import/Export Online - An Overview of the Basics
If you want to learn import/export basics in Sydney, then this online course is for you.
This is a practical overview of the business of international trade that you can put to immediate use. For people starting their import/export business, extending their current business activities or wanting to broaden their knowledge.

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

- Customs and quarantine procedures
- Classification of goods for imports and exports
- GST for imports and exports
Objectives
The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.
By the end of the course the student should be able to:
- Plan their import/export transaction, processes and procedures and identify the areas where they can seek assistance
- Minimise the risk of costly error in the import and export process
- Maximise their potential for success in international trade
Other Information
This course will be presented as eight live webinars. The tutor will present the material in real time and you will be able to ask questions and make comments just as you would in a classroom. All sessions will be recorded and made available to you within a few days of the session. Between classes you will be invited to join a text-based discussion forum in which you can ask further questions of the tutor or discuss ideas with other students. Participants will be online in the conference room between 7.30pm and 9.00pm each week. You can access the conference room from your computer at work or at home. The text-chat is asynchronous so you can participate in this part of the course at a time convenient for you.
Details on how to access the online conference room will be forwarded to you one week before the course.
Students will need to purchase a headset which includes a microphone to participate in this course. You can expect to pay approximately $20 for a headset from Officeworks. A broadband connection is preferable but not essential.
