Assessments are made against the following units of competency from the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAA40104
  • Plan and organise assessment TAAASS401A
  • Assess competence TAAASS402A
  • Develop assessment tools TAAASS403A
  • Participate in assessment validation TAAASS404A

The course provides people who are assessing in the workplace with the techniques to plan and organise assessment as well as how to appropriately conduct assessments in a competency based assessment environment. You will also learn how to design assessment tools and participate in an effective validation process.

This course contains the following units of competency:

  • TAAASS401A Plan and organise assessment
  • TAAASS402A Assess competence
  • TAAASS403A Develop assessment tools
  • TAAASS404A Participate in assessment validation

Please Note: In order to successfully complete this module you will need to assess individuals or a group in your workplace. If you are not currently employed as a trainer/assessor we will ask you to either volunteer your services to a community organisation OR we will do our best to provide a simulated workplace on your behalf. Please contact Ann Brady on 8752 7533 BEFORE you enrol if you do not have a workplace where you can conduct assessment.

Objectives

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Explain the competency based assessment approach
  • Analyse and discuss the principles underlying the assessment process
  • Describe the steps involved in planning the assessment process
  • Select appropriate assessment methods and give reasons for selection
  • Design an assessment tool for either a training program or for use in the workplace
  • Explain the assessment process to a candidate and conduct an assessment
