If you want to learn about vegan cooking in Sydney then this class is for you.

It’s widely thought that vegans have no fun when it comes to delicious and decadent desserts and sweets. This one day workshop, and the cookbook that inspired it, aim to show that no only do vegans have a great range of sweet treats to choose from, making them is easy, fun and produces impressive results.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • What replaces eggs?
  • What sort of sugar or sugar replacements can be used?
  • What replaces butter?
  • Is chocolate vegan?
  • Where do I source vegan ingredients?


Some of the dishes may include:

  • Chocolate Melting Moments
  • Banana Cheezcake
  • Gluten Free Almond Citrus Cake
  • Crème Brulee

Objectives

At the end of this course, students will:

  • Have gained knowledge of vegan products and how to substitute ingredients in bakery
  • Learn a range of vegan dessert recipes and methods of cookery
  • Learn about food preparation and safety

Other Information

Students should wear comfortable, sensible clothing with no overhanging sleeves. Flat, closed toe or covered shoes.

Students will need to bring:

  • A sharp knife
  • Notebooks, pens
  • Apron
  • Tea towel
  • Containers (for any leftovers!).

Limited parking is available in the school car park, which is accessible from Derbyshire Rd (west of Balmain Rd).

Drivers can also park in Annesley St or Hill St (east of Balmain Rd).

Instructions

The pedestrian entrance is on Balmain Rd near Annesley St intersection. Pedestrians can also walk through the school car park.
