Rhythmic, precise and loads of fun! If you have often wanted to give this dance a go, don’t be shy, come along and enjoy yourself! It’s great for fitness too.

If you want to learn tap dance in Sydney, then this course is for you.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • Each lesson begins with a warm-up of approximately seven minutes duration. This assists in flexing the muscles, limbering ankle and knee joints and stimulating breathing
  • Basic tap steps are initially taught and then revised at the beginning of each lesson for approximately thirty minutes
  • A tap routine is then commenced and practised with additional steps added each week until completion of the routine. (Approximately three weeks per routine). The routine is practised each lesson and perfected before a new routine is commenced.
  • Each lesson ends with a cool-down of approximately seven minutes duration. This helps to prevent pulled muscles etc.

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course the student will have:

  • Developed a sense of rhythm
  • Learned basic tap steps
  • Integrated steps and movement into a routine
  • Performed the routine
