Flamenco Guitar

This course is designed to unlock the challenging flamenco style for guitarists of all levels. Carefully graded exercises will present various Flamenco forms and techniques.
Special attention will be given to the strumming hand, to achieve the unique sound for which the Flamenco guitar is famous.
Various techniques like Arpeggio, Rasgueados and Pulgar will be explained and taught.

- Brief history of Flamenco and its origin
- Chord chart and tablature reading for Flamenco
- Flamenco chords
- One finger Rasgueado
Session 2:
- Music theory
- Three finger Rasgueado
- Solea
- Auydado
Session 3:
- Contentious Rasgueado
- Pulgar and Rasgueado
Session 4:
- Four finger Rasgueado
- Solea Remate
- Golpe
Session 5:
- Pulgar and Golpe
- A Complete Solea
Session 6:
- More Golpe
- Alegreas
Session 7:
- Pulgar and “ma” Stroke
- Tangos
Session 8:
- Rumba Strokes
Oucome
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Explain the various forms of Flamenco
- Feel comfortable and relaxed playing the guitar
- Read and comprehend Flamenco guitar chord chart and tablature
- Demonstrate various skills in both the fretting hand and the strumming hand
- Play complete solo Flamenco pieces using all the skills he or she has acquired

- Pen and paper
No books needed – Printed materials will be handed out at each lesson
