How to Sell on eBay

Whether you just want to earn some extra cash from those unwanted items in the shed or are looking for a full or part time business, this course is for you. This course takes you from the basics of signing up as a seller on eBay, to researching items you want to sell, and creating a listing.

Required skills: Basic computing and Internet searching skills.

Please note: During the first class you will be asked to create a selling account on eBay. This requires you to input your name, contact details and credit card details. You will also need to have a valid e-mail address that you can access through the internet (eg. with Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail)

If you want to learn How to Sell on eBay in Sydney, then this course is for you.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • Understand what eBay is and how it works
  • Create a Seller account and select Seller Fee payment options
  • Research similar items you wish to sell and navigate the eBay Site
  • Present images of items to be sold online including when to scan and when to photograph, digital photography and scanning basics
  • Know different selling methods and pricing strategies
  • Know what makes a good title and description for selling an item
  • How to monitor your listing and how to contact the buyer
  • What to do if your item does not sell
  • Have a variety of methods for collecting payment from buyers
  • Be aware of different options to send out your items and calculating postage costs
  • Explore online forums related to eBay
  • HTML tips and when to use HTML where to get more HTML Information (this is not an HTML course)
  • How to leave feedback

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course students will:

Please bring pen and paper.

During your first class students will be listing an item for sale on eBay. We advise that you choose a low-cost item which is easy to post. To list an item, each student must register with eBay and create a seller account which entails the following:

  • Inputting your name, contact details and credit card details into eBay
  • Accessing your email account during the course. If you do not usually access your email account from the Internet please contact your service provider who will be able to assist you.
