Do you have a stressful job or stressful life? Find it difficult to manage your time effectively or to say ‘no’ to people? Find it difficult to wind-down after work or to sleep at night?
This workshop uses neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and yoga breathing techniques to deal with all of the above, and more, to help eliminate the sources of stress in your life. NLP is a series of techniques (based on the way your brain processes information) to help you effect the changes you want to make.
This workshop will help you change your conditioned patterns of dealing with stress. Basic relaxation techniques will also be taught.
The workshop will be based on adult-learning principles and will be interactive. A series of NLP (and some yoga) techniques will be used. Participants will also be taught techniques for use at home.
Agenda
The workshop will cover:
- a brief explanation of what NLP is and how it works;
- a brief explanation of various yoga methods and the basis of them;
- the causes of stress;
- the impacts of stress;
- creating appropriate boundaries between themselves and others;
- setting realistic expectations of oneself;
- prioritising tasks for maximum efficiency of time use;
- shifting limiting decisions and emotional states which cause stress.
This workshop will be very experiential. A large part of the time will be spent doing NLP techniques or learning yoga techniques for relaxation. NLP utilises participants beliefs, values and decisions, and so a fundamental part of the workshop will be discussing these things with participants. NLP techniques include things such as brief, guided visualisations, the use of story-telling (metaphor) and a range of other techniques. The yoga techniques used will include hand gestures (known as mudras) to induce relaxation and breathing exercises (known as pranayama) to calm the mind.
Outcomes
By the end of this workshop participants will have:
- an understanding of the causes and effects of stress in their lives;
- learnt some basic yoga-based relaxation techniques;
- established appropriate boundaries between themselves and others;
- changed their expectations of themselves;
- improved their ability to identify and handle stress in their lives.
