The all NEW Flapper Gals Course is a 4 week high energy Charleston Class learning all the jazz steps of the popular 1920s era. The fashion and the hair is all retro again with the filming of The Great Gatsby and Australia’s Underbelly Razor series. Flapper was the term given to the “new liberal breed” of women emerging from the 1920’s. If you would like to know more come and join this high- spirited fun class.
Agenda
During this course the intention is to teach jazz steps of the era and put it into a routine for you. We will show you how to do the basic Charleston step and all the popular moves of the era. The class is fun, zany and high energy. You will have a feel for the era and the fashion by the end of the 4 weeks. No partners necessary.
Objectives
The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows. By the end of the course, students will have:
- Learned the basic charleston step
- Have an understanding of the era and history of the dance
- Completed a short routine
Other Information
Be sure to dress in comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes with smooth soles that enable you to move around the floor without sticking. We ask the ladies to wear flat shoes during classes and to practice in heels at home.
On the last night of the course we invite you to come along and dress for the occasion just for fun. During the course the tutor will offer ideas on how to dress and look the part.
The Flapper Charleston course is a high energy class, so please bring to the tutor’s attention any health-related issues or challenges that may affect your safety.

For all courses involving physical activity you must arrive by the published course commencement time or the tutor may refuse to admit you into the session. The agenda for many courses involving physical activity starts with an OH&S briefing and/or a warm up and to miss either may create a hazard to you, which might exclude you from participation for the session.
PLS NOTE: All classes need a minimum number of students to go ahead. If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled and you will be informed.
