Hooping for Beginners

Learn how to hulahoop for fitness, dance and fun. Suitable for absolute beginners this 8 week course is designed to introduce you to the art of hooping. Enliven your senses, tone your abdominals, build core strength, increase coordination and tune into your rhythm as you learn to command correctly sized and weighted hoops. This is a fun series of classes that incorporates music, movement and dance as you explore the magical circle that is the hoop!

Agenda

This course covers the foundations of hooping including on and off body moves. We start on the waist, move to the hands, learn transitions between on and off the body, spiral the hoop up and down and play with multiple hoops.

Throughout the course you will also learn how to move your body in the hoop as an introduction to hoop dance. Key elements include saves, turns, hooping on the booty and chest, lassos, weaves, tricky hand tricks and hoop dance.

Objectives

  • By the end of the course you will have mastered:
  • hooping on the waist
  • hooping in the hands
  • spinning two hoops
  • moving the hoop between on and off the body
  • foundational hoop dance moves
  • a sequence of tricks and moves to take away with you

Other information

Dress in comfortable clothing. Hoops will be provided to use in class and are available throughout the course to buy.
