Cubase Essentials

If you want to learn about music editing in Sydney, then this course of 2 classes is for you.

Learn the essentials of hard disc recording and digital audio relating to the leading music editing package – Cubase. The evenings will cover the fundamental skills and knowledge to carry on with the Cubase application. Assumed knowledge and skills: none required. Continue with the Extension class and receive a 10% discount on the fee.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

Session 1: Introduction to Audio Recording

  • theory of Digital Audio recording
  • getting started with Cubase
  • editing, mixing and mastering tracks
  • setting up a home studio for MIDI and hard disk recording

Session 2: Introduction to MIDI recording

  • theory of MIDI
  • basics of MIDI recording, mixing and mastering
  • introduction to the List, Key, Drum, Score and Wave editors
  • linking MIDI instructions to Audio tracks
  • concept of Virtual Studio Instruments

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course, the student will have learned to:

Understand the basics of midi and hard disc recording theory and how to record and play back a track in each format.
