Come and learn the basic chords and rhythms and some easy popular songs and riffs. You must provide your own guitar and music manuscript book.

If you want to learn guitar in Sydney, then this course is for you.

No previous knowledge of the guitar is necessary for this class. Strictly limited places.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

• Learn basic music theory, rhythm strumming patterns and chords
• Examine simple playing techniqus, learn to read tablature
• Play popular songs – eg. Wild Thing, Knockin' on Heaven’s Door, Come as You Are, Good Riddance (Time of Your Life), House of the Rising sun and more

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course the student will have:

• Learned simple techniques for playing the guitar
• Performed a repertoire of simple enjoyable pieces
• Developed and improved skills of those who already play
