"Everyday People" Photography Workshop

If you want to learn how to photograph people who interest you or inspire you, then this is the course for you.  Led by photojournalist Peter Solness, this course teaches you the process of taking a good photographic ‘location’ portrait. With 30 years experience working for magazines such as TIME, Readers Digest, The Bulletin and the Sydney Morning Herald, Peter will show you how to light and arrange people with a minimum of fuss, but still get a good professional looking image.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • Discuss the value of location portrait photography and consider some classic images of this genre
  • Consider how such photographs can enrich our lives and give satisfaction to the subject
  • Learn how to interprete someone who you wish to photograph, both in a creative and technically competent way
