This course is designed for intermediate students and will teach you how to produce exciting images using creative Photoshop techniques to enhance your images with “best practice” workflows for high quality image and print making.?
Learn how to set up an advanced professional workflow using the Camera Raw editor in Photoshop then processing and enhancing them for Web, fine art prints or Offset printing. You will need your own copy of CS4 or CS5 Photoshop software.
Each week we will explore in detail the photoshop tools and concepts as you design remarkable images through your projects which require photoshop skills and techniques for you to complete.
Creating and completing projects to work on from your areas of interest in photography, we will build up your knowledge of Photoshop as we investigate the depths of this extensive and powerful photographic application.
This eight week course is designed for intermediate students with tutoring provided by a leading commercial photographer who is experienced in working with photoshop.
The course covers creative techniques such as high bit depth image editing, HDR and creating panoramas, as well as working in layers and working with selections.
The course is run on Mac computers, however Photoshop Creative Suite is almost identical on a PC. For those using PC’s additional instruction will be given.
The course is designed for experienced SLR users who have completed Photoshop For Photographers I or equivalent. We welcome those working with film and image scanning is covered in the course, but you will need to scan your images prior to the class sessions, and you will need RAW and JPEG or TIFF digital files to work on.
If you want to learn about digital photography image processing and Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite in Sydney, then this course is for you.

Agenda
During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.
Students will learn how to:
- Best practice workflows using Bridge and Camera Raw
- Utilise more of the Photoshop tools
- Make advanced adjustments using layer adjustments
- Work with different file formats and understand bit depth
- Work with Lab, CMYK and RGB
- Non-destructive image editing techniques.
- Pixel density for high resolution printing and low resolution image applications
- Working with multiple images and Masks
- Use special features of Photoshop such as high bit depth editing, HDR and Panoramas
- Work with large image files and high quality printing.
- Brief introduction to CS5
Objectives
The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.
By the end of the course the student will have:
- Completed an ongoing Project
- Downloaded photos from a camera, scanner or computer
- Corrected, improved and resized photos
- Used different file formats such as RAW JPEG and TIFF
- Touched up and deleted unwanted elements of photographs
- An understanding of working with layers and masks
- Used special features of Photoshop
- A knowledge of using images in email and slide shows
- Learned how to print professional photographs

- You need to have an intermediate level computer skills, PC or Mac, as well as the Photoshop CS4 or CS5 software.
