Fascinator Making

Need a headpiece for your next function, raceday, or wedding. Then come along and learn how to create a clever, original piece for yourself. You will learn to make a flower , and use feathers to witty advantage. Materials will be provided to teach you the skills to put together a fabulous fascinator in this 2 day workshop.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

Lesson 1 .
3hrs

  • Discussion of millinery materials, and tools.
  • Make a simple fascinator base.
  • Demonstrate and make a silk flower.

Lesson 2
3 hrs

  • Ways with sinamay
  • Fun with feathers
  • How to attach veiling

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

  • Students will complete a small fascinator headpiece using traditional millinery techniques.
  • Learn simple techniques for tooling a silk flower.
  • Learn how to curl feathers
  • Understand the techniques of traditional techniques such as feather manipulation.

There will be further materials available for purchase if required .
Cost of kit -$ 30 included in course fee.
Please bring a basic sewing kit to class (tape measure, pins, thimble, millinery straw needles, thread).
