Fabric Printing Workshop
If you want to learn Fabric Printing in Sydney then this course of 2 classes is for you.
Explore your fabric printing potential over a weekend where you are given the opportunity to create your own projects in a ‘workshop’ environment. Create your own fabulous designs on fabric. Experience creating larger or multiple prints. Printing inks and most equipment supplied. Extra cost dependant on your project. Limited to the first 10 enrolments!
Not a course for absolute beginners. Students must have previous fabric printing experience.
Agenda
During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.
- Appreciating the many sources of designs – how to adapt them for printing and painting.
- Multi-colour printing.
- Pattern repeats.
- Opportunity to try larger or multiple prints.
Objectives
The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.
By the end of the course the student will:
- Be able to adapt designs to make them suitable for printing and painting.
- Have experienced screen printing and relief printing.
- Have used various techniques to produce prints on fabrics.
- Have explored more advanced printing production techniques.
- Have been able to explore experimental techniques for direct application of colour to fabric.
Other Information
Please bring:
- Some small plastic plates
- A small stencil cutting knife
- Drawing pad, pens, pencils etc for designing
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Small brushes
- A small sponge roller
- 5cm masking tape
- Some newspaper (about 2)
- Something to print on appropriate to your project.
- A few jars with lids for excess ink
- An old rag for drying hands
- Protective clothing
- Plastic teaspoons
- A couple of wire coathangers
- Sponge and 1 plastic spatula (kitchen variety)
- Other equipment or supplies as required by your project.
- A hairdryer could be handy to dry fabrics in a hurry if needed
