If you want to learn in Sydney then this course of 8 classes is for you.

Sketch your ideas on paper and look at the pattern to suit and alter your design. Develope your own style adapting suitable fabrics to your design. Look at culture and history to adapt or influence your design. Choosing designs to suit different figure types. Learn to co-ordinate a range through using different fabrics and trims to create garments.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

• Influences of adaptation from culture and historic periods
• Fabrics
• Figure Types
• Style/Fashion forecast
• Alterations to patterns
• Alterations to suit the design
• Taking measurements

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course the student will have:

• Identify different influences through culture and adaptations/history
• Look at fabrics that suit their style
• Take measurements and make a skirt pattern to suit their figure
• Let your creativity flow through colour/design texture
• Basic alterations
• Look at commercial patterns that suit your design
• The sewing of the garment will have to be done at home due to no sewing machines for the moment

Courses are conducted on the senior campus of Santa Sabina College. 90 The Boulevarde, Strathfield. (click on venue below for directions)

IMPORTANT – Parking is ONLY available from GATE 2 off JERSEY ROAD…follow signs to PARKING AREA. All other parking areas in Santa Sabina are not for SCC Students and you may be asked to move your car.
