How to Start Your Own Fashion Label

The aim of this course is to teach students how to go about setting up their own fashion labels. They will gain an understanding of the design and production processes. How to source the correct types of manufacturers and suppliers. Marketing and selling of fashion products will also be covered.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • The basics of setting up a business – business name registration, website registration, other legal requirements
  • The design process
  • How to source fabrics and trims
  • The production process
  • How to source manufacturers
  • Selling within the fashion industry
  • Marketing

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course students will have gained an overview into how to set up their own fashion business and know the basics of the legal requirements that must be followed.

Student will know how to source fabrics, trims, accessories, suppliers and manufacturers to suit their specific needs, as well as know how to market within the fashion industry and how to sell within the industry.
