Take an exploratory approach of the elements of art through mixed media. This course is designed for beginners but experienced artists are welcome. Taking an exploratory approach of the elements of art through mixed media, this painting course focuses on playing with a range of mediums such as gouache, acrylics, oil paints, charcoal and collage (all optional). As we progress through the course, students will embark on their own project, or be guided into one by the course tutor.

It is highly recommended (but not compulsory) that students complete a drawing class before enrolling in this course.

If you want to learn about painting in Sydney, then this course is for you.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • Focus on elements of art as the course progresses, such as colour, line, shape and pattern
  • Look at various artworks, and the way they relate to technique, style etc
  • Mixing of colours, understanding cool and warm colour schemes and high and low key tonal range

In the first lesson you will be preparing to do some drawings and eventually a painting from a life model.
