The Complete Short Story

Need a good grounding in the basics of writing a short story? Looking for techniques to make your prose stand out? Then this two-day course may be right for you.

Agenda

Day one takes you through the foundations of fiction, including characterization, point of view and creating engaging dialogue. You’ll read and discuss examples from contemporary fiction, then engage in writing exercises. After day one, you’ll work on a piece of fiction that we’ll workshop the following week. On Day two, after the workshopping, we’ll focus on structure and plot, creating strong beginnings and endings, voice and style.

Outcomes

This is an intensive workshop, and could be just the impetus you need to get you (and your writing) moving.

Other Information

Bring writing materials and lunch. Morning and afternoon tea provided.
