Sinister Intentions

The way to hold the reader’s interest is to withhold from him/her something they want to know. Crime and mystery writers regularly play this game with their readers so, whether you are a keen reader of mystery fiction, a new writer, or an experienced writer seeking inspiration you will enjoy participating in this information packed workshop.

Agenda

Some of the topics to be covered in this workshop include:

  • Considering plots – past and present.
  • Creating real characters and sinister situations.
  • Setting the mood, and disposing of the victim.

Other Information

Bring lunch and writing materials. Morning and afternoon tea provided.
Participants should bring along three writing related questions they would like answered OR their own original opening paragraph to a mystery story of no more than 50 words.

SUE RAINES is a freelance writer and playwright. Having turned her talents to crime and mystery writing, Sue has found a niche in teaching the genre. Other works include articles, book reviews and short stories published in magazines and anthologies. A member of Partners in Crime Sydney, she is also an avid reader of crime and mystery fiction.
