This course is part of the ACTIVE SENIORS PROGRAM.

In one session of three hours, continue your computing adventures with Internet and email!

Using a series of hands-on activities, this course will help you find out all the things you need to know to get connect with friends and family.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

  • An intro to what’s on the web: What’s a blog? What’s social networking? What’s a chat room?
  • Using email on the go – accessing your account, forwarding, replying and attaching file, adding a contact
  • Managing and resizing photos with Picasa

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Define the terms blog, chat room and social networking
  • Access a web-based email account, add a contact and forward and reply to an email
  • Find and resize a photo using Google Picasa 3
  • Attach a photo to an email and sent it to a contact

Basic computer skills are required. Please bring a pen and paper to class.
