If you want to learn to Build or Maintain Your Computer in Sydney, then this course of you.

This is an ideal course for learners who have little or no experience with the hardware aspect of Personal Computers. Learn how to build your own PC from scratch or upgrade your existing PC. A PC will be supplied for demonstration purposes, however, students are welcome to bring their own PC and components with them and take home a working PC at the end of the course.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered-but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

Topic One – Information:

• What is a PC?
• What tools do I need?

Topic Two – Building:

• Preparations
• The PC Case
• The main boards
• CPU and RAM
• The Drives
• Internal Cables
• External Cables
• Final Testing
• Trouble Shooting

Topic Three – Installing Operating Systems and Other Computer Applications:

• Windows XP
• Microsoft Office 2003

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Understand a fully functional PC that meets individual needs
• Assemble a PC from scratch
• Identify and install a specific hardware such as Motherboard, CPU, Memory, Hard Disk and PC’s ATX cases as well as other devices
• Install Operating System Software such as Windows XP and other computer application software
• Upgrade or add certain hardware which is suitable for their needs
• Provide maintain and trouble shooting common PC’s problems
