If you want to learn how to Impress the Audience in Sydney, then this course of 2 classes is for you.
If you’re already presenting at work, or simply want insight into to adding some pizzazz to your presentations, this course is a ‘must do’. We focus on how to weave stories into your presentations. You will improve quickly whilst you put simple, novel techniques into practice. Through guided and coached exercises, you’ll learn to really work with an audience. Exercises are fun. Learn stagecraft, give short talks, even introduce speakers. If you want to explore ways to impress your audience, this course is a ‘must-have’ investment in you.
Agenda
During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.
- Why audiences all over the world love a story;
- The essential ingredients of a good story;
- How a story can be told that makes sense to an audience;
- Discussion of language and how you can use it to your advantage;
- Understanding the different ways people communicate and process words;
- Overcoming nerves and commanding attention;
- Speaking on one’s feet and without notes;
- How to use colourful language that opens up more people in your audience to listen;
- Your presence and how to command attention in a room;
- Methods for overcoming ‘stage fright’.
Objectives
The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.
By the end of the course the student will:
- Understand the different way people communicate and process words;
- Understand the essential ingredients of a good story;
- Learn to overcome nerves and to command the attention;
- Learn to speak on one’s feet and without notes;
- Learn to use colourful language that opens up more people in your audience to listen.

Leichhardt Campus, Sydney Secondary College (formerly Leichhardt High School) is located on the corner of Balmain Road and Moore Street West. Entry via Derbyshire Street. Onsite parking very limited, some street parking available.
