Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA), Recognition of Prior Learning - Pathway
Recognition of Prior Learning (sometimes referred to as Recognition of Current Competency) is a process where a teacher/tutor/trainer can gain recognition for existing skills and/or qualifications. There are number of different ways to gain recognition.
Students can:
- align previous teaching/training experience with the units of competency from the Certificate IV and provide supporting documentary evidence
- map existing qualifications to units of competency from the Certificate IV
- complete assessments where documentary evidence is unavailable
- attend training if skills gaps are identified
- or a combination of the above.
A brief description of the process is outlined below:
A meeting of up to one hour with an RPL Assessor is conducted. During the meeting the applicants experience will be discussed to establish whether RPL is appropriate and, if so, how the student should proceed. A non-refundable fee of $100 is charged for this meeting. Meetings are arranged by appointment. If you wish to proceed please enrol at www.course.com.au/course/BSRP1 and then contact Ann Brady on 8752 7533 or ann.brady@scc.nsw.edu.au to make an appointment.
If, following the interview, the applicant decides to continue with the RPL process, the applicant can enrol below. Following enrolment an RPL Kit is provided which explains the process and describes the content of each unit of competency. Support is available though an agreed number of face to face meetings with the assessor and email/telephone assistance will be available throughout the process.
The fee for RPL for the full Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is $2300.
Students may also elect to apply for RPL for individual modules. The fee structure for each module is outlined below:
- Module 1: Design and Deliver Training $780
- Module 2: The Workplace Learning Environment $480
- Module 3: Workplace Assessment $680
- Module 4: Facilitate Work-based Learning $680.
Upon completion the evidence and activities will be assessed by an external assessor and the applicant will be contacted with the outcome within four weeks.
If you have already attended your RPL interview and have decided to enrol in the RPL course you can do that below. If you have any questions about RPL please contact Ann Brady on (02) 8752 7533 or ann.brady@scc.nsw.edu.au.
