If you want to learn about branding and positioning your small business in Sydney, then this course is for you.

As a small business owner in an increasingly competitive environment it’s important to understand not only the importance of your brand, but also how to build your brand, how to create a unique position in the market for your business and set yourself up for a profitable future.

This doesn’t mean you need to spend a lot of money doing so, you just need the right skills and information to create a brand that will support your business and keep you ahead of the pack.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered-but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

• Discuss current small business or ideas – case studies and own business examples
• Identify competitors within industry, emerging trends, local area, desk research and face-to-face research
• SWOT analysis of competitors within your business field
• Positioning your business
• Developing your brand – The 4 P’s (price, product, promotion, place) and more
• Building and developing your brand – ongoing requirements, ideas and checklist

Objectives

The intended learning outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Understand how to conduct a competitive SWOT analysis
• Choose a competitive position for your business
• Brand development basics – business and brand plan
• Build and maintain a brand
• Create a future business brand planning checklist
