This course is for those people who already hold the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ98) and who wish to upgrade to the new qualification. Participants will be expected to attend the face to face training, provide evidence of current competence, complete out of class work and workplace projects. The content covers the core units of competency, which are new to the TAA qualification.

- TAADES401A Use training packages to meet client needs

- TAAASS404A Participate in assessment validation

Agenda
This course is conducted alongside students who are completing a full Certificate IV rather than the Upgrade. The first part of this training is self-paced and the remainder is classroom-based.
During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

Module 2: classroom-based
- The VET Sector – an overview
- Expectation of Trainer and Assessors in the VET sector

- Your role in ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment
- Identifying hazards in the learning environment
- Assessing risks
- Developing action plans and monitoring the learning environment
- What is inclusivity?
- Relevant legislation to support inclusivity
- Resources to support inclusivity
- Your role in practicing and promoting inclusivity
- Work practices to support an inclusive culture
Module 3: – classroom-based
- Assessment tools
- Developing assessment materials
- Reviewing and trialing assessment tools
- The validation process
- How to participate and contribute to validation
- Conducting assessment simulation
- Validating assessment simulation
Module 4: – classroom-based
- Identifying the learning needs of individuals
- Learning options for individuals
- Learning styles of individual learners

- Micro teaching – one to one coaching or work based learning.
Please note that Module 4 contains an additional unit of competency – Develop teams and individuals (BSBCMN404A). You will receive a statement of attainment for this unit.
Objectives
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Explain the components of Vocational Education & Training Sector (VET)
- Discuss and identify relevant workplace standards or benchmarks
- Identify and unpack the different parts of a training package in particular a unit of competency
- Define and discuss the concept of inclusivity in a learning/assessment environment
- Select appropriate solutions, which could assist with different inclusivity issues in a learning context
- Identify the OH&S responsibilities of trainers and assessors
- Complete an OH&S hazard/ risk assessment in a simualted environment
- Identify and discuss the difference between individual and work based learning
- Explain and give an example of use for each of the principles of training
- Identify preferred learning style and describe its characteristics to the group
- Design a short training session for another learning style p reference
- Identify the advantages and disadvantages of different work-based delivery approaches
- Design and deliver a section of an individual or work based learning program
- Discuss the difference between coaching and mentoring as individual learning methods
- Describe what contributes to effective learning and the qualities of a good facilitation relationship
- Discuss and design evaluation methods for either one to one or group situations
- Design an assessment tool for either a training program or for use in the workplace
- Explain the assessment process to a candidate and conduct an assessment
