Agenda
During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.
- Explore and learn all about fresh Asian herbs, spices, and condiments, exotic sweets and Asian vegetables – find out where to purchase these goodies and also practical kitchen utensils at the best prices
- Get to know the best Chinese restaurants in Chinatown that top Australian chefs, and that even Jamie Oliver rave about
- Learn all about Asian cooking ingredients and implements and know where to buy them at Asian grocery stores in Chinatown
- Enjoy a delicious traditional Peking duck dinner with other equally sumptuous Cantonese dishes at one of the finest Chinese restaurants in Chinatown.
Objectives
The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.
By the end of the workshop, the student will have:
- A very good idea of Asian food and their ingredients with the help of handouts
- Come to know and identify fresh Asian herbs, condiments, pastes and Asian vegetables
- Become familiar with the best Chinese restaurants in the vicinity of Chinatown and the dishes they are famous for
- The experience of eating a well-prepared Peking duck dinner

Students to meet promptly at 4 pm outside the METRO Hotel, cnr of Campbell and Pitt Sts. If students have problems getting there, please call Swee-Eng on the day on 0401 081 208. Please bring a shopping bag or basket for carrying purchased goods. BYO wine for Peking duck dinner (Pinot Noir recommended) or pay for drinks at restaurant.
