Discover Cabramatta, the home of many Vietnamese and explore shops and food stores. We’ll start the tour with a traditional Vietnamese lunch. Then off to explore Vietnamese shops where we will visit dim sim makers, a sweet and cake shop that sells unusual desserts like cassava and coconut cake and taro slice, sticky rice pudding, a herbalist shop, a BBQ shop that sells roast duck, soya chicken and BBQ pork, a Vietnamese supermarket which stocks everything you need for Asian cooking and a bread shop where they make taro and coconut breads and unusual sweets like pineapple tart and mochi.

Agenda

We explore Vietnamese culture in the way of food and shops and come to know where to purchase authentic Vietnamese food.

Objectives

By the end of the course the student will have appreciate Vietnamese culture and Cabramatta and its food.

Other Information

Please meet at the corner of Railway Pde and Arthur St at the front of Tiem Banh Cake Shop promptly at 12 noon. For those coming by train, take the ramp on your left when you arrive at Cabramatta Station and the cake shop is directly opposite the station. (Please allow about 1 1/2 hours from Central Station to Cabramatta Station). For those driving from the lower North Shore please allow 1 1/2 hours to get to Cabramatta. It is better to park on the east side of Cabramatta. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring along a shopping bag if you intend to buy things. You can reach the tutor, Swee-Eng, on her mobile 0401 081208 if you have problems getting there on the day of the tour.

If you are running late, please go directly to the restaurant, Ngu Binh Restaurant, on Arthur St (next to Raine and Horne Real Estate).
