A one-day workshop designed to give you some basic knowledge of car maintenance and a must for the car owner. Learn simple strategies to keep your car on the road and save on costly repairs through general care and maintenance.

Agenda

During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the variable nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.

• The body/maintenance
• The engine
• The cooling system
• The fuel system
• The exhaust system
• The brake system
• The clutch system
• The automatic transmission
• The final drive
• The suspension system
• The lubrication – grease and oil

Objectives

The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.

By the end of the course the student should be able to:

• Describe major parts of the motor vehicle
• Demonstrate an ability to communicate in relation to the motor vehicle and its components
• Solve a problem which exists with the motor vehicle
• Organise the motor vehicle maintenance schedule

Please bring paper and a pen. An optional text, written by the tutor, is available for $15. Wear practical safe shoes – not open toes or sandals.
