Bushwalking in the National Parks
If you want to experience Bushwalking in the National Parks, then this course is for you.
Enjoy four Sunday walks in areas of outstanding natural beauty near Sydney. There will be a choice of dates & grades of walks, which will be explained at the briefing night, which you must attend. Walks may be up to 12km long & include uneven terrain. Billy tea provided. Walks commence the first Sunday after the information session. Select four from a choice of about six walks.
Agenda
During this course the intention is that the following topics will be covered, but not necessarily in the order given. Due to the flexible nature of Adult Education classes, parts of the curriculum may be adapted to suit the needs of the class.
- Discussion of walks, meeting places and times – clothing, food and drinks on first night
- Four walks are chosen out of five or six – usually 8am to 5pm or 6pm
- Visiting Budderoo, Royal, Blue Mountains National Parks or others of the many available
- Participating in walks of differing types – eg. Coastal heath, wet schlerophly forest, dry rocky ridges
- Navigating off the track and map reading
Objectives
The intended Learning Outcomes for this course are as follows.
By the end of the course the student will have:
- Gained increased awareness of the importance of our National Parks to current and future generations
- Experienced personal development and interaction
- Developed bushcraft skills, improved fitness and physical health
Other Information
A meeting will be held on Tuesday 21st October at the Design and Technology Ctr, Rozelle. This meeting is to set travel arrangements, meeting place and explain safety procedures etc. It is necessary for all participants to attend this meeting.
All sport/recreation classes are active and therefore you must bring to the attention of the tutor, any physical or health-related impairment that may affect your safety.

For all courses involving physical activity you must arrive by the published course commencement time or the tutor may refuse to admit you into the session. The agenda for many courses involving physical activity starts with an OH&S briefing and/or a warn up and to miss either may create a hazard to you which might exclude you from participation for the session.
