Inner City Organic Gardening

Sydney Community College offers a new course in organic and eco friendly gardening starting on Monday, 19 October.

No need for a big garden! This course is also suitable for people with small backyards or inner city balconies. Students will learn the techniques of organic growing and acquire simple practical ideas that can be put to use immediately.

When it comes to gardening all the theory is just not enough, you need to get your hands dirty, feel the soil, look at the plants. And this is why this course offers a practical component alongside the theory lessons. The four theory sessions on Mondays in Leichhardt include: what is organic gardening; design and planning; plants and basic botany; natural pest control. The four practical sessions are scheduled for Saturdays in various community gardens in Sydney where students will be able to put into practice what they’ve learned and see some fine examples of what can be achieved.

No matter how big the garden or balcony, students will be able to discover the rewards of creating a vibrant healthy garden by working with nature.

The course is open for enrolments now. The course fee is only $219 and includes all materials. Students just need to bring their gardening gloves, hat and sunscreen.
