Course Accreditation

Our Status

Sydney Community College is a Registered Training Organisation, (RTO) accredited to provide training and recognition services according to our Scope of Registration within the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). There are two main policies that form the Vocational education and Training System within Australia. These are:

  • Standards for State and Territory Registering/Course Accrediting Bodies.
  • These are the standards the Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB) and the other state and territory authorities use when registering training organisations and accrediting courses. The AQTF thus ensures a nationally consistent, high quality VET system. Sydney Community College as an RTO is part of this system.

    1. Standards for Registered Training Organisations.

Organisations providing vocational education and training must comply with these standards in order to be registered within the AQTF. Sydney Community College has passed audit at AQTF level.
    What is Course Accreditation?
In the vocational education and training (VET) system, accreditation refers to the formal recognition of a course by a state or territory course accrediting body. Accreditation takes place in accordance with the AQTF Standards for State and Territory Registering/Course Accrediting Bodies (187Kb PDF).Accreditation is the quality assurance process used to formally recognise national qualifications not covered by nationally endorsed training packages.
VETAB is the recognition authority which accredits vocational education and training courses in NSW. An accredited course can lead to a Statement of Attainment or a qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Only registered training organisations (RTOs) are entitled to issue qualifications for accredited vocational courses. All courses conducted at Sydney Community College which form part of our Scope of Registration, are advertised with the use of the VETAB logo.
