Experience

Melissa Becker has been teaching drawing with Sydney Community College for 17 years. She also has experience teaching private life drawing classes.

Achievements

Melissa’s achievements include having solo and group exhibitions in New York, Sydney and Paris. Her work is currently on display at Charles Hewitt Gallery in Darlinghurst, Sydney, with a solo exhibition scheduled at the gallery in October 2009. Melissa’s work has been considered for the Portia Geach Memorial Award – a celebration of Australian female portrait painters – as well as the Mosman Art Prize.

A co-founder of the Sydney Community College Tutor’s Sketch Club, Melissa is also a director of the Australian Institute of Graphology.

Teaching Style

Melissa encourages a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, essential for students to absorb the complex issues involved in learning to draw. Her classes are exciting and dynamic with concepts and techniques taught to students step-by-step. Students can expect to use a variety of materials and will be introduced to figure drawing.

Something Unique

Melissa loves French and is teaching herself Japanese.
