Experience

Jon Lewis has more than 20 years' teaching experience, starting out as a resident artist at All Saints College in Bathurst, before plying his skills with roles at design schools in Paris, France, in the late 1980s.

Since the early '90s, Jon has been sharing his considerable photography expertise with students in Australia. He’s taught at the College of Fine Arts (COFA) in Sydney, University of Technology (UTS), Sydney, and at TAFE NSW’s Goulbourn campus.

Achievements

Jon’s achievements are many and varied, dating back to the '70s. In 1977, he was a founder of Greenpeace Australia. His interests are reflected in his photography with portfolios of images including The Bush, Outback, Bondi, Timor and Being Muslim. In 2007, Jon was the curator of the Greenpeace 30th Anniversary Photo Exhibition, Wombeyan International Photo Festival, and Sorry Day with Jodie Wiggins.

Jon believes knowledge comes from your head, skills from your hands, with the all-important application from the heart.

Something Unique

Jon is truly unique – he is a founder of Greenpeace! He speaks two other languages, French and Tetun (East Timorese), and has been photographing and exhibiting photographs for 35 years.
