Australia
After studying at the Australian National University and the University of Sydney, Ken Burgin spent five years employed in social work before buying his first cafe and embarking on the life of a restauranteur. With 25 years' experience running his own businesses, ranging from a cafe and restaurant to a busy consulting and training service, Ken’s now moved a considerable patr of his business online, enabling him to reach a wider audience and grow an international customer base.
Ken’s professional achievements include successfully operating Caffe Troppo, a busy cafe/brassiere in Glebe during the 80s and 90s. He’s also the founder and manager of Profitable Hospitality. Australia’s leading online resource for restaurants, cafes, clubs and hotels. Ken notes he enjoys training small groups and speaking to large conferences and lists his 12-year teaching role at Sydney Community College as a major achievement.
Ken’s style is interactive and he welcomes questions throughout the workshop sessions. Not a fan of using bullet points in his presentations, Ken prefers to show slides that illustrate an issue rather than send his students to sleep! All of Ken’s workshops are backed up by an extensive web page of resources so students can refer to relevant information anytime 24/7.
Ken likes to start the day with a long walk around the park, dodging the black swans and listening to podcasts on his iPod. A self-confessed information glutton, Ken concedes it’s how he keeps workshop content fresh and lively!
